The best Pride events, queer venues and things to do in Sydney during your WorldPride 2023 trip – you’re welcome.

Sydney's annual glitter-fuelled Mardi Gras is set to be turned up several notches next February when, for the first time in history, the momentous WorldPride event descends on the NSW capital. With up to a million people from the world over set to attend, the city will play host to the largest-ever global LGBTQIA+ celebration from 17 February to 5 March. It’ll easily be the most fabulous queer event in the cultural calendar that Australia has ever seen, and good news! We have exclusive travel packages on offer to celebrate.

Given just how epic the celebrations will be, we felt it only right to share some guidance on just how to make the most of the momentous occasion: the parties that are non-negotiables; queer venues to visit while you’re in town; ways to show support to the local community; and day trips from Sydney to lock in while you’re close by. Consider this your go-to guide for celebrating at Sydney’s first-ever WorldPride. Grab your glitter and let’s do this.

Essential WorldPride Parties

Stamina will be critical next year – there’ll be close to 300 events taking place throughout the 17 days of WorldPride, from major headliners to theatrical performances, arts events and even community sports. So, with many events worthy of your time, which party do you head to first? We’d start with these four non-negotiable Sydney WorldPride events, alongside the Parade, of course.

Sydney’s Bondi Beach makes for arguably the most iconic party location. Yep, Bondi’s foreground will be recreated into the hottest coastal open-air club – the beachside backdrop proving an ideal venue for you and 12,000 others to celebrate pride and party hard. It’ll be seven hours of dancing by the beach stage, which will transform in sound and style throughout arvo to evening; from camp pop fun to fire and house and electro unity. WorldPride Events To Listen, Learn and Take Action

The arrival of WorldPride in Sydney comes at a significant time for our Australian LGBTQIA+ community. The event coincides with the 50th anniversary of the first Australian Gay Pride Week, the 45th anniversary of the first Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, and the fifth anniversary of Marriage Equality in Australia. As such, WorldPride provides us with an important opportunity to collectively take stock of the progress the community has made towards equality and set intentions for the future. Be part of the conversation and get involved via these standout political events below.

Human Rights Conference

When: 1-3 March 2023

Where: ICC Sydney

The world’s largest human rights conference ever held in the Southern Hemisphere features a series of talks, panel discussions and workshops from many impressive panellists including Crystal Love and Tony Briffa, and will focus on the issues impacting the LGBTQIA+ community right now; as well as ways to combat these issues. Events will run from 1-3 March at Sydney’s International Conference Centre (ICC).
